Ed,

Which did you see first?  I would think that, in a double feature, the second
film would almost always be at a disadvantage.

I saw both last Friday with my family as a double feature. I enjoyed them both.
After having read The Hunger Games book I was pleasantly surprised at how close
they stuck to the book, even though they had to leave a lot out. However, after
viewing both movies back-to-back, I found John Carter a much more entertaining
and exciting movie than The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games just seemed to be
filmed in a much slower pace and at times I saw myself getting a little bored.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the film and the book so much more but in
comparison of the two movies I thought John Carter was a better movie.
