I've never seen a movie that gave me as many mixed feelings as Hunger Games.
It's very well done and the young actors are absolutely terrific. But the
entire premise is grotesque and I caught myself on too many occasions slipping
into the mindset of wondering who was still alive and wishing for a scoreboard.
That's downright disturbing and I was ashamed of myself when I realized what I
was thinking.

If you're rooting for the characters like it was a football game or Survivor, I
think you're missing the point. It's not about who wins (ie lives); it's about
an abominable system that slaughters (mostly) innocent children on a regular
basis.

I can very easily imagine 3/4 of the country thinking that a *real* version of
this, as a real TV show, would be the greatest thing ever. The amount of money
the movie is making troubles me, because I'm not sure what part of it the fans
are paying to see. Particularly young people who maybe don't really understand
the fascism they're seeing here.

It's a fine film, as far as films go but, frankly, the whole thing just gives
me the creeps.
