I love this line from the article:

"...it doesn’t work for consumers to yell “I hate you!” as they hand over
their cash."

Companies like EA will never lose the battle when it comes to consumer
appeal. As long as they continue to make solid exciting and immersive games
they can, pretty much, get away with anything; most definitely when
consumers continue to buy their games.
Personally, I've not encountered any issues with EA games as I usually only
buy their sports games and rarely do they have DLC content for sports
games. However, I do get annoyed when I rent an EA game from Gamefly and
want to play online but can't because I don't have a EA access code for
that feature. But, what do you do, except go out and buy the game so that
it comes with the access code. As long as it doesn't interfere with single
player gaming, which I mostly participate in, I have no problems.
