Had an absolute blast last night.

They first did a pair of shorts and a commercial. The first short was
"comedy" short subject called "Welcome Back, Norman!" that made
absolutely no sense and had no point. But it was hilarious none the
less. Next was the commecial, an insane commercial for California
prune juice which featured a "weathered Orville Redenbacher wannabe"
drinking 2 glasses of prune juice (ugh!). The final short was "At
Your Fingertips: Cylinders" demonstrating all of the worthless crap
you can do with cylinders.

The feature itself was a complete riot. I have seen Manos a few times
via MST3K but the RiffTrax riff was all new. The picture did look
better but whether it was the restored version or not I do not know.
The riff itself was bananas. Highlights include the "Hachimama!" when
Torgo was spying on the wife, which sent the crowd into convulsions,
the Master ordering Torgo to stand up, taking a full 32 seconds
(followed by Kevin's quip "Oh, don't get up Torgo!"), and what is sure
to become classic a, the "Redneck Twilight" sketch with Bella and
Edward as arguing rednecks. "When are you gonna make me on-uh-those
vampiiires?" "I told you when I fixed up the truck, woman, now get
off my back!" "I'm just sayin' is all that if I had them vamprific
powers I would use them to get the broke washin' machine off the
lawn!" "Why don't you get wonnuh yer werewolf friends to do it fer
ya!" And so forth. :)

The next RiffTrax Live is in October and is riffing Birdemic, which if
you have not heard of, please go Google it. I am seriously
considering watching that one as well.

On an unrelated note, next week Fathom Events through TCM is screening
Singin' In The Rain for one night only! Holy cow, that would make for
a great date night movie. Also, TCM has screenings coming up through
Fathom for The Birds, a Frankenstein/Bride of Frankenstein double
feature, and To Kill A Mockingbird. All worth seeing on the big
screen.
