I used to use GoDaddy but their prices have gone up over time--the registration might be cost-effective but the renewals are ridiculous. I use my host (DreamHost) to handle new registrations now, their prices have stayed consistent for 10 years and I don't have to worry about manually adjusting servers, etc. Just whatever you do, don't use Network Solutions: the word extortion comes to mind, and only slightly hyperbolic.
