http://news.yahoo.com/un-report-wants-moratorium-killer-robots-170141210.html Speaking honestly, I think we are less than 5 years away from a practical, fully independant "Hunter-Killer" style robot which would target and attack objects meeting certain parameters that it can "see" with an electronic eye or other sensing device while moving a set perimeter or route. The most advanced autonomous weapons nowadays still have some level of human oversight -- but how much of a leap is it to think of a weapon which can "read" a target, make a "Friend or Foe" check and then activate?
