Honestly, I consider myself an outsider to the video game industry. The
system I play most often is my Game Boy Advance. My brother got me a PS2
but I have not played it in about 2 years. So from the outside looking in,
every time I see modern video gamers behave, and then inevitable backlash
over "anti-female" sentiment or "anti-gay" sentiment or "anti-whatever"
sentiment, all I can think of is that this is an extension of the "Bro"
subculture which young men have adopted in this country. This sort of joke
is part in parcel with that mindset.

I mean, why else would you practice to plastic a plastic toy musical
instrument for a video game instead of, you know, learning to play an
actual musical instrument? Because that would mean you can't act like a
teenager in your 30s anymore.
