I hadn't planned on using this any way. Google Hangouts is cross platform and works really well. My wife has the iPhone 5 with me on Android and Hangouts works really well for the both of us. At first when it was released it wasn't that great, she rarely received my IMs or video call notifications but they made some updates that I believe have fixed those issues.
