I suspect that this is getting attention in Greece, what with the use of a well known spokesperson (according to the article). A similar campaign here in the states might use a well known female celebrity (perhaps a cancer survivor, like Fran Drescher) to push women to follow the account on Twitter and get messages about self examinations and other info. The "why" I guess is the novelty of the whole thing to make folks more likely to follow.
