As far a the costume change, several character designs have been changed for the movie, evidently. WW's costume in the New 52 is not discernibly different from the one she wore previously, nor the ones from Justice League or the Wonder Woman movie. So I do not think it has anything to do with whether a costume is liked or not.
As far as heartless, I don't think that's really a fair statement. That's hard to ascertain from a trailer, whether or not there will be character development. Also, it's a movie entitled "War," so... just saying.
