It may be so overdue it's passe, but THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN. Half Life is still the greatest franchise I've ever played.
http://www.muktware.com/2014/02/half-life-3-development-rumours-surface/21339 Half Life 3 development rumours surface Valve have always taken a mysterious stance whenever it has come to the topic of Half Life 3; they never clearly stated their plans with the series, neither have they officially ever denied that they will make a sequel to the hit series. So this piece of new "evidence", if you can call it that, should come as a ray of hope for the scores of patient fans who are waiting eagerly for the next game in the Half Life series. According to a new picture that floated up in NeoGAF forums, Valve might already have started working on Half Life 3 on their new engine, the Source 2 engine. The screenshot that surfaced is supposedly that of a directory listing of the new engine. Among the various files included for the directory listing of the engine, there are also directories of games. These games include DoTA, Left for Dead 2 and curiously HL3, which is Half Life 3. Although the fact that there are just two directories for Half Life 3 means that the development of the game is at a very nascent stage. Valve has so far kept their mouth shut over the leak, in typical Valve fashion. So this information should be treated as rumour perhaps with a possibility of being true since there are no official confirmations on the truthfulness of the evidence. Valve has never denied wanting to work on a sequel, neither have they confirmed a sequel plan for the future. What they have always said is that they don't want to rush the development of Half Life 3, which can be interpreted as they are not ready yet and also that they will make the game.
