Kickstarter has been plagued by under-performing "successful" campaigns,
but this has got to be up there with the level of crap the artist is
spewing. I'm grateful that the projects I've backed had fulfilled all
promises on time. I'm also grateful that my own campaign didn't meet its
funding goal way back when as I massively underestimated the time it would
take to create the book in question (though there's something to be said
for how much time I spent putting off parts that might not have been if I
had investors waiting).

But the crux of the matter with Campbell is that he failed to correctly
price his reward levels and then severely fails on customer service--both
pointing to the fact that this guys doesn't have the business know-how to
run anything (or the intelligence to ask for help from someone more
business-savvy) but wants people to pay him without expecting anything in
return for their "investment." Now, we can't go restricting campaigns to
those with an MBA, but it sounds like (to be credible), future creators are
going to have to prove their business acumen, not just their creative
skills.
