I guess I fall into the camp that says "There was nothing wrong with her original costume." Newsarama makes a suggestion in a separate article that "in recent years it took on something of a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue body-painted quality." Which suggests to me that it is more an issue with the *depiction *of the suit rather than the suit itself. Beyond that, I don't mind Marvel changing SW's costume as she literally has worn the same duds since the 1970s. What I do mind is them changing it to something which is not as nice as the original. The *Star Trek II* style jacket is nice, but the hip belt seems an odd choice, and the tights and boots are boring. The gloves seem like a 1990s rehash. And the goggles make me think "someone wants to ape Hawkeye's move-style revamp." Which is what I assume this is -- a dry run at making a costume which they can translate to either a movie or TV series. A little color could help a lot -- make her tights the same red as the jacket, and the boots yellow, and the outfit would pop a lot more for me. Or, maybe make the tights red and black, maybe make the cut line at mid-thigh (like a wrestling singlet/bike shorts) or below the knee. It would just make it visually more interesting for me. In any event, Marvel certainly is proliferating and focusing on their female Spider characters lately, huh? New emphasis on Spider-Woman, introduction of Silk and Spider-Gwen... pretty cool. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Unique Geek" group.
