Bane being based on Doc Savage is pretty evident if you read Nightfall, but 
has never really been translated well into other media, unfortunately. Most 
like to treat him as a bruiser or a hired gun and little else.  

Galactus being "beyond good and evil" is one of the truly revolutionary 
concepts which Stan and Jack brought to the FF.  Steve Ditko was doing 
similar stuff with the early Marvel cosmic stuff over in Doctor Strange as 
well, and this "grey area" sort of character had a huge influence on what 
we would see in the 1970s and beyond.  

The Red Skull story is just bizarre, but it's really amusing none the less!
