This topic seems timely as we just had two other Hobbit-related posts! Anyway, my wife and I saw Battle Of The Five Armies on Friday, and to prep, we re-watched An Unexpected Journey, and then watched Desolation of Smaug for the first time. We watched the regular versions of them.
Now, back in the LOTR trilogy, the Extended Editions were the "must buy" versions of the films for a lot of folks, myself included. But I have not heard nearly as much hype about the Extended Editions of the Hobbit trilogy. So my question to the group -- are they worth getting? Or will I be alright sticking with the theatrical cuts? An Unexpected Journey seems very long to begin with, so the idea of adding 20 minutes to that is a little daunting. Same goes for Desolation of Smaug. Battle Of The Five Armies was actually quite tidy -- not sure what they would add to that film given where it takes place in the story. Thoughts? (As an aside I really enjoyed Battle Of The Five Armies. Lots of great character stuff to go along with some really stupendous "Big Fight At The End" action._ -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Unique Geek" group.
