My wife and I did a vacation wholesale club presentation (like a timeshare
but not a timeshare) this weekend, and for our troubles we ended up with a
small 7" Android tablet. It's a Chinese product judging from the "manual"
(more like a leaflet) which came with it. I was dubious, but the thing
powered up and works seemingly normally. It has a model number if you look
at the system info, MDI-somethingsomething I think, but no markings of any
kind on the case itself.

It's running Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat (mmmmm), and seemingly does all the
normal tablety stuff. I have to say that the Google Play store is very
nice, and that the experience using it is very similar to the now-closed
WebOS store (we hardly knew ya). The browser works fine; in fact, it plays
Youtube about a million times better than the TouchPad which is problematic
for the HP for some reason.

The odd thing about it is that there is no center button like on my
TouchPad or an iPad. Is that normal for Android tablets and devices? The
only way to switch between cards/apps/windows/whatever they are called is
the soft "Apps" button on the screen? It works alright but does take some
getting used to. I had thought I was closing apps by using the soft "Back"
button, but it was actually just backing out to the Home Screen, so I had a
bunch of them running in the background.

Anyway, nominally this is my wife's device because getting it as a freebie
gift from the presentation was her idea, but I don't know if she has any
interest in using it instead of her beloved laptop. The screen is nowhere
near as nice as my TouchPad, and it's smaller, so right now not sure how to
proceed.Other than getting a case for it, of course.

Just thought it was amusing that I have sort of backed into being an
Android owner, heh.
