Boffo box office for Jurassic World, coming in above even the most rosy of estimates. I did not get a chance to go see JW, but would very much like to. I have many fond memories of seeing JP in the theater with my family right before my 13th birthday way back in the days of hallowed antiquity. Some notes: --Jurassic World earned more in it's opening weekend (both domestic and worldwide) than Pacific Rim and Godzilla '14 did in their entire runs. --These three high-profile US creature features have earned over $1.45 billion worldwide and counting over the last three years. --Legendary Pictures does not have a creature feature slated for 2016 release, but they do have them in 2017 and 2018 -- Kong: Skull Island, and then Godzilla 2.
