Craig's performance as Batgirl directly and indirectly had a lot of influence on the way the character has been portrayed over the years. On the Season 3 (I think) Batman: The Animated Series DVDs, Paul Dini talks about how he specifically wanted his Batgirl to be a "brawler," not throw "dainty kicks like Yvonne Craig." The use of purple and yellow in the Batgirl costume, still used today, obviously is owed to Craig. Craig was of course also known as playing an Orion slave girl on Star Trek. In an interview she did with Cinefantastique magazine back in the 90s (a Batman: TAS issue), Craig said that her Batgirl costume was made of a material that would bunch up like crazy. So she was not allowed to sit down between takes -- she had to be standing up from the moment she got into costume. Needless to say, this made fight choreography, waiting for shots to be set up, and even going to the bathroom very difficult! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Unique Geek" group.
