This Post contains *SPOILERS* for Secret Wars!

The X-Men have been off on their own little corner of the Marvel Universe
with little exception pretty much since Morrison took over the book back in
the New X-Men era. Other than crossing over with the Avengers characters in
House Of M and then A VS X, the X-Men storylines have stayed primarily in
their own titles and primarily in their own geographic area of the Marvel
Universe.

Major exceptions are Wolverine (of course) and Deadpool (of course), who
are so popular that Marvel has to use them as much as possible, although to
be fair you do not see Wolverine nearly as much as you once did.

The point I am trying to make here is that Marvel has been actively
downplaying the X-Men in favor of the Avengers for years. Not to the level
of cancelling the family of titles or anything like that, but by
(ironically) pushing them into a ghetto of sorts and leaving them on their
own.

And as far as putting down the X-Men to make others look good... *SPOILERS...
*in Secret Wars, when Cyclops, wielding the full power of the Phoenix
Force, is about to lay some smack down, let's just say he is literally
taken out with a wave of the hand. You don't get more dismissive and
jobber than that. *END SPOILERS*

No surprises here...
