It seems a few people are having problems with this, but first things  
first, the obvious change:

switch :lib => 'thinking_sphinx/0.9.8' to just :lib => 'thinking_sphinx'

If that doesn't work, try upgrading to riddle 1.0.5 (if/when you do,  
it's probably best uninstalling 1.0.4).
