Hi Jim

All of what you say is true, but you can set the port in config/sphinx.yml - 
which is what I think Gordon did - and then TS will generate the conf file with 
the correct port. Ideally, manual changes to the conf file should be 
unneccessary, but there are some occasions where it is warranted. This isn't 
one, though :)
