Do you have the capability to perform a thorough cleaning, by removing the keyboard, and using a can of difluoroethane gas (dust off or equivalent), and removing and reseating all cables, plugs, drives, etc., and perhaps using an electronic cleaner found in computer and electronic supply stores. Such procedures help a lot in getting things back to normal. Exercise extreme care as old cables and connectors become very brittle as they age, and sometimes crack or break off. The T23 is an excellent laptop in most model series... And a little tuneup house cleaning helps most of the time.
