One of the few exceptions (for me anyway) would have been MPC Computers

I guess before they died they got better than they used to be: my dad once had to throw away an 18-month-old Micron laptop because they had no parts for it.

N=1? We've had several Micron desktops over the years, the machines were built like tanks and the company has always been very good about machine and parts turnaround when necessary, almost as good as EZ-serve at their best. I also had a Micron laptop, and it was built well but had a serious design flaw (CMOS battery welded into clock chip), and like most non-Thinkpad laptops was not repairable once out of warranty; however, while under warranty the company was extremely responsive. I have colleagues that have been buying Microns. both laptops and desktops, for many years, mainly because of the quality of the service. Obviously I prefer ThinkPads myself as machines, but I *have* had more problems with EZ-Serve than I ever did with Micron.
