I've been advised by an MS Tech to do a Clean Boot of my R51 with XP Pro, so I can diagnose a nagging irritant.
Problem is, when I disable all of the non-MS Services and Apps via MSCONFIG as the Tech instructed, the system hangs with the 'Checking Status of Embedded Security Chip' message. I assume one of the Lenovo Services I disabled has to stay enabled to allow that checking process to complete so that Windows will launch, but which one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Once I get that (semi) Clean Boot, I can proceed with the diagnostic process suggested by the MS Tech.
