Looks like the change will be permanent: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-72207.html
"For our PC customers, automatic updates via ThinkVantage System Update (TVSU) are being discontinued. Customers can continue to download updates by accessing the Lenovo support site at Lenovo Support & downloads. Lenovo is pursuing alternative solutions for system updates and future offerings will be communicated through the new Lenovo Message Center Plus." The change greatly upsets me because using the TVSU has been recommended in preventing BSOD when updating two Thinkpads via Windows/Microsoft Update (an X40 and a G40). I was planning to reinstall Windows on the X40 and G40 with their respective R&R CDs. Without TVSU, what's the best way to update Windows without encountering the BSOD? > Anyone have the inside skinny on why Lenovo shut down the System Update site > (you get a pop-up saying System Update turned off until at least May, but you > can still go to www.lenovo.com/support<http://www.lenovo.com/support>) ? > > __________________________________ > Robert Rosen > > Please consider the environment before printing this e-mail > _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
