The facts:
T43 2687 D4U
Hard drive is Seagate 5400 160 gb (yes it gets the beep, but so it goes)
Operating system was Fedora 10 at the time of the incident in question
(although it had had an XP partition in the past six months)

Going along fine until a week or so ago, and I am stuck at the
flashing cursor in the top left of the screen. I put back the original 40 gb
drive, it works fine. Now with the Seagate in an external USB housing a go
to access it and see that it is set up as RAW with nothing on it. As I
ponder over the situation the next few days, I no longer see the drive in
Explorer. I try a variety of things, including Knoppix, no go. Finally, I
access all the files using, they can only be saved with out the
file structure and so it rests.

When I try Seagate Tools on it it says the drive is fine (!).

Question... is it fried or should I venture reformatting and having another
go. It is under warranty and would need so ideas on how to approach Seagate
if the consensus is that I send it back.

Thanks,

Stuartf
