I confess that I like it better than the old System Update. They both alert me to updates for my machine but I found System Update to be unreliable in installing the new updates. With Message Center Plus you still get custom notice of new updates, either as a separate RSS feed or in a panel of the ThinkVantage Productivity Center, but the downloads and installations are now manual, visible and for me far totally reliable. With System Update, after any installation failure I always had to spend time digging around to find the right download to install and that is no longer necessary.
