FWIW, echoing Rob's comments re: screen size & resolution, my clients' Dell
netbooks are a pain to view.
The clamshell isn't all that thin - though a small footprint.

  Subject: [Thinkpad] IdeaPad S12 availability?

  Hi,

Has anyone seen the IdeaPad S12 available anywhere yet? Their press
release mentions "available in June". I don't see them on the Lenovo
  web site.

I've been considering a netbook for a while, but though I like the idea
of tiny footprint and long battery life, I can't live with a
super-low-res, oddball resolution screen like all the 8-10" units have.
At least the 12" 1280x800 screen on the S12 should be somewhat usable.
My other alternative is an ASUS 1101HA, which has an 11.6" display with
1366 x 768 resolution. Battery life on that one looks awesome at nearly
11 hours, though I'm not naive enough to believe it will be that good.
But they have to be better than those that claim 6 hours.

I'm unsure how they can churn out some of these netbooks with decent
specs for under $500 but then charge well over $1000 to even $2000 for
slightly bigger 'real notebooks' like the X301 and many others. I don't
see that much separating them, technology-wise.

  Rob
