Are there any netbook out there that has trackpoint other than Vaio P? I think netbook will even gain more popularity if it comes with trackpoint. I haven't jump on the whole netbook wagon for this very reason :(
Is it because of the licensing? ...... On Jun 24, 2009, at 5:28 PM, "David Ross" <[email protected]> wrote: I agree with what I think Dominique is saying. Personally I just don't see the appeal of netbooks. If it's going to be a small computer with most of the features one expects, then it might as well have a keyboard and screen of a reasonably usable size, like the ThinkPad X series (or the old TP 240). Once you start compromising on the screen and keyboard size, then it might as well be as small as a PDA phone. Why bother with anything in between? Every ounce is important, especially on airline travel; I think my X61t is too big and too heavy. I also have a Nokia N810, which is as small as a PDA phone and better for most uses (it runs Linux), but it is hardly a substitute for a general purpose computer. My list of wants for a netbook is far smaller than Aryeh's, but a 1.5-2 pound machine with a usable keyboard, trackpoint, decent screen, and decent battery life would be extremely appealing to me at the right price. (The Sony Vaio P comes very close.) Add a tablet screen, and I'm sold. _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
