No BIOS issues, but Windows 2000, WXP, and VISTA are designed to detect any changes other than memory, and shut down the hard drive... potentially detecting it as a fraudulent copy... and Thinkpad install disks do not allow an easy fix it the detection of "illegal copy" is reported. Windows will detect that there is a different BIOS, and hardware, and likely stop you cold
