Its a bad battery. There is nothing else to test of speculate about.

Subject: [Thinkpad] Battery problem?

I have a TP G41 that sat for two months while I was gone, and upon return suffers from the following situation: The battery charging light is orange upon boot-up in the morning, later goes to blinking orange. The battery never charges, however, and the light simply blinks all day long. We tested the current coming into the battery leads while the computer is plugged in, and it is comparable to the other Thinkpads we run here (T42, T43, 600X). What we want to know is: Is the problem with the battery itself or with the charging mechanism? We don't want to buy a new battery if that is not the problem. Actually, the battery is more for a fail-safe in case of power outage because we take the lighter TP's on the road
and use this one only here in the office.
Anyone have a similar experience?

Thanks so much.
Beth
