One of my customers had the problem with the unseen DVD drive, it is a
system board problem.
In fact, I have a T42 with the same issue. I just use a USB drice when I
need to load something.

They don't Rob, just as you fear.
Also, part (08K9606) appears to be an Ultrabay 2000 device too which,
again, seems to not work with T4x laptops, if ThinkWiki
(http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Ultrabay) is accurate.
Thinkwiki's accurate in this case and no, 08K9606 won't fit in an Ultrabay
Slim in a T4X.
