Hi,

My current TP is an X60s, purchased in 2006. I intend to replace it next year and I first thought the natural replacement would be the X210s. However, I had a look at the following post:

which looks scary, especially the two videos included by the poster:

There's no way my X60s would flex like the X200s featured in these videos, when I submit it to the same treatment.

I had a look at ltwbook.pdf and tabook.pdf, for info about the case material(s):

X60s/X61s:
Case material: magnesium alloy

X200s:
Display cover: Carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (top), glass-fiber reinforced plastic (side walls); Base: Magnesium alloy

-> do I understand correctly the older models' case feature magnesium alloy all over (base, sides, top) whereas the newer models' case has weaker materials for the top and sides?

Are there people who have migrated from the X60s/X61s to the X200s who can confirm the flimsiness of the latter model?

I'm now seriously considering the X61s as an alternative to the X210s: it's outdated, but still available new. I don't mind about the 4x3 format (in fact, I'm not at all thrilled by wide screens) and the X61s has one distinct advantage over my current X60s: it's compatible with 64-bit OS's. What are your thoughts about this?

Since the X301 appears to have the same case materials as the X200s, I assume it would be just as flimsy. Am I correct, or does it feel more sturdy?

Thanks,

Dominique
