I'm fixing up a Lenovo Thinkpad 3000 N100 and I see the battery has
95% charge left, according to Windows. I power it down, pull the
plug, and try to power it up again. There's no reaction.

I make sure the adapter's plugged in and seated properly. I see the
battery charging icon, and it disappears after a few seconds.

I hunt around for a root cause, and I come across this page:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-69671

I'm more than 15 months late, so I'm outta luck for a free
replacement. Lenovo's asking 150 USD for a replacement.

Where else can I go to get a more value-centric alternative?

Thanks for reading.
