If you are in the US, just go to the Lenovo outlet store; you can usually get genuine Lenovo batteries for $30-50 depending on machine and number of cells.

Subject: [Thinkpad] x61s battery?

The battery on my x61s is wearing out, so I'm considering replacing it. Is there any non-Lenovo battery that's worthwhile, or should I go with a genuine Lenovo? Any recommended vendors?

The numbers on the battery are 42t5247 and 92p1164, which do not seem to be marketed by Lenovo. Instead, I find http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68026.html#battery which includes "ThinkPad X61, X61s Series 4 Cell Slim Line Battery (Sanyo) (not supported on the X61, X61s)"

What does it mean to say an X61s battery that's not supported on the X61s
