Hi everyone,

I have a ThinkPad T400 (model number: 2768-11G), with a 160 GB
hard disk drive and I'd like to upgrade this HDD storage capacity.

I have bought a
ThinkPad 320GB 7200 rpm Serial ATA Hard Drive
   Part number: 43N3411
that I'd like to use instead of the 160GB 5400 rpm (default) one.

In the meanwhile, I want to upgrade the OS from Windows Vista Business
UK (pre-installed) to Windows Seven Ultimate FR using a "Windows 7
Ultimate UPGRADE on a USB! 32 BIT (French)", that I got through an
Academic program. Is it possible?[1]
In addition to the other notes, I did much the same thing (I got a T400, and immediately upgraded from Vista to Win7).

I did a clean install on a blank hard disk with the upgrade DVD, and was surprised that I was allowed to do it. I should not have been surprised when activation failed. I called Microsoft support, and within a few minutes, I had downloaded a little piece of software that allowed activation to work.

Academic versions may be different.

Best of luck,
Chris
