If it is a 600 it is MMC-1, 600E is MMC-2, they are not compatible with each other. 300 is as fast as MMC-1 goes. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Simon Royal" <[email protected]>

Subject: [Thinkpad] TP600 & MMC-1

Hi
I have been reading around about my ThinkPad 600. It has aparently the processor on a daughter card called an MMC-1. This supposedly makes it quite easy to upgrade. I have search on eBay and found a few MMC-1 cards. All the ones in the UK seem 233Mhz P2 cards and my TP600 is a 300Mhz model.
I did find some P2 366Mhz and 400Mhz cards from the states quite cheap.
Am I right in assuming any MMC-1 board will work and that MMC-2 boards won't. I know it is going to be a massive speed improvement (although 300 to 400 is a 30% leap in processor performance) and if the price is too much it might be cheaper to buy a newer ThinkPad.
But I do like tinkering and was just wondering.
