Subject: [Thinkpad] Thinkpad wierdness
I just had the weirdest problem on my X301. I logged in and the resolution
was changed to 640x480, 4 bit color. Going into screen properties, I
changed it back to high resolution, 32 bit color, but it wouldn't change.
And the screen still thought it was at the high resolution because only a
little bit of the screen could be seen (i.e., a 640x480 chunk out of the
high resolution).
Rebooted several times including turning the machine off but the problem
was still there on a regular log in (safe mode seemed ok). Reloaded the
video driver. Deleted the video devices and let it reboot and find them.
Reinitialized the BIOS. Nothing fixed it.
Finally said restore to an earlier restore point. Got an error message
saying couldn't execute the restore point. But then after that error, it
was fixed.
Anyone ever seen anything like that? Or know what I did to fix it?
