Actually, there is a dirty trick if you find an open fuse: just solder the new fuse piggy-back on top of the old one. This is considerably easier than removing/replacing the old one, but still finicky work. As was pointed out, the fuse will probably just blow again anyway, and you can go ahead and buy the new motherboard.
