I have got the pre-owned Thinkpad T60p. The previous owner did me „a favour“, and he reformatted the disk and installed fresh plain Win7 there. Consequently the old licensed WinXP is gone, as well as all IBM utilities including ThinkVantage. No Recovery CDs available, of course, and system does not offer F11 during boot to initiate Recovery. Fortunately, the WinXP COA sticker is intact.
I inspected the disk from Windows and I can see two partitions there, the one is 3.74GB healthy primary partition, no drive letter, no file system. I believe this may be the HPA recovery partition. The size is about right, however without ThinkVantage I do not know how to initiate it for system recovery. Is there a way how to restore the original WinXP in this situation, at least to make the small partition accessible during boot and/or inspect its content? Preferably to perform recovery at once. Can anybody help me here, please? I would appreciate so much.
