Simon; I agree on the 600 keyboard -- one of the best.
I've never owned a 600X, but from browsing eBay, it looks like the keyboards are the same.
You might want to look for a 600X with type number 2645-5FU or 2645-9FU. They're hard to find, but those two have a 650 MHz Pentium III CPU, and SpeedStep technology which throttles down the CPU speed when not needed (runs cooler and battery lasts longer). All the 600X's take two 256 MB memory modules, plus the on-board 64 MB for a total of 576 MB max. That should help a lot with XP.
