Hi

I am about to abandon my ThinkPad 600E project as more and more parts are
breaking. I have been looking at a 240X for its size and processor wise it is a
lot more powerful than my 600E although the RAM limit is lower.

The 240X machines I have been looking at do not come with external CD drive and
as these machines do not have internal ones nor the option to boot from USB
this makes getting an OS on them tricky.

However, I have a 600E which dual boots Linux Mint 9 LXDE and Windows XP Home
and wondered how much trouble it would cause if I simply removed the hard drive
from my 600E and popped it in the 240X.

I did this from a 600 to a 600E and XP moaned a little and could find drivers
initially for the changed hardware but once sorted it worked fine.

Do you think this would work ok with a bit of fiddling? It has to be an easier
option than trying to get an os installed via other means.

Also, I know the 240X boots from PCMCIA CDROM, will it boot from any or does it
have to be an IBM one or a specific one?
