A few days after it arrived, I decided I'd better test the Ultra-Slim
adapter I'd just bought from Lenovo Outlet for $45. It only came with
the one (20V) tip and worked well when plugged into the wall. Later
drove it to another location and decided to stick with it as the
primary charger.

Yesterday I noticed the battery light is blinking yellow even when
plugged in, and while the battery gauge said 100% (now 97%), the X300
died when I unplugged it from the wall.

Hovering over the systray battery icon I get:
>Lenovo Battery:
>(97%) remaining
>The battery has failed due to normal wear. The battery cannot be
>charged. Replace the battery.

Power Manager v3 says the same, and:
>Condition: poor [red icon]
>Status: No activity
>Remaining percentage: 97%
>Remaining time: -
>Cycle count: 83
>FRU part number: 42T4518

I accept that this machine is almost 2 years old and that's within the
normal life of a battery (it doesn't stick out so I guess that
4-cell?). But I'm concerned that this happened shortly after I started
using the new power adapter. I also did run it down once (in the last
week) to 8% by closing it into standby and forgetting it.

Should I be worried something with the new adapter will trash a new
battery? Or is this a reasonable life? And what's a good source of a
replacement (US or Canada is fine, sales taxes are now lower in ON
than NY for a business expense).

Thanks!
