Hi I have partial success getting XP on my ThinkPad 240X without a CD drive.
I pulled the drive out, popped it in another laptop, partitioned the drive in to 2 partitions. I copied the XP cd to the second one. I then installed DOS 7.10 to make the drive bootable. I popped it back in my ThinkPad and it booted to DOS. Ran the winnt and started the installer. All goes fine then while it the screen says 'please wait while setup copies files to your hard disk' it stops showing you files in the bottom right. It says it is copying and the drive light is on, but after 15 minutes of it sitting there it doesnt change. Any ideas? I rebooted and it does exactly the same.
