Machine: T43 2687-D4U 15" Flexview XP SP3

Okay, this machine is showing its age and lack of oomph, probably most
limited by the 1 GB of RAM.

>From time to time, when I am switching tasks, the task bar area of the
screen becomes unglued. What I see is the very top area of the task
bar, the part that is shaded and it is repeated about twelve or
fifteen times, replacing the icons and/or minimized windows
completely.

This machine has a recently replaced motherboard for another problem
(Southbridge) and was replaced by EZServ, although this problem did
not appear for some time after the replacement.

Other presumably non-related symptoms include a reluctance to
suspend/hibernate (either by Fn sequence or using the click and shoot
method) form time to time, and a general failure to close programs
when asked.

I have a month of warranty left and am in China for that interval so,
as reluctant as I am to use their China service, I will do so if it
seems there is a hardware problem. Hints or ideas how to proceed?
