I'm staring at an ad for a new T510 431328U (2.4 GHz / 15.6" / 250 GB / 2 GB) with internal resolution of only 1366x768. It's new, U$725, free shipping in US and no tax outside CA.
My X300 13.3" has higher resolution than that at 1440x900, and I'm wondering how coarse this T510 will seem. I'm taking it as given that I can get native resolution on my 24" external so it's only the external that matters. The closest equivalent T510 I can find on Lenovo's site is $879 (plus tax) and has 2.66 vs. 2.4 GHz. To bump that up to HD+ (1600x900) is $50 and to FHD (1920x1080) is $250, i.e. $929 and $1129 respectively. (Actually something's broken, when I switch to the FHD it jumps to $1254 then if I revert to HD it's $1004 instead of $879 -- okay I see, choosing FHD automatically switches to NVIDIA graphics card, then reverting to HD doesn't automatically to back to Intel, you have to do that manually). I don't desperately need to upgrade the X300 yet, though more storage would be nice. I do worry about the 6 vs 3 lb. How bad is the HD resolution at this size? Any other considerations? Thanks! -- Andrew mailto:[email protected] _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
