Hello,
I have about a dozen Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and Lenovo business-grade systems
which are used for software quality assurance testing. These are Dell
Precision, HP xw-series and Lenovo ThinkStation series computers and about
two or three years old. I cannot say that I have noticed any major
differences in reliability between them.
The Dell and HP systems have larger chassis, and the latch mechanisms for
the side panels tend to be a bit fancier than Lenovo's. The Lenovo systems
are slightly smaller than the Dell and HP ones. Despite the smaller size,
I would say cable routing is a little easier in the Lenovo. There are
also newer HP and Lenovo Xeon workstations around. I was helping a friend
with his ThinkStation D20 and the build quality seemed excellent and it
was very spacious to work inside.
If you have the office space and budget for the latter, I would suggest
considering it.

Aryeh Goretsky

The boss says I should buy a new desktop. I am looking at HP, Dell,
and TP/Lenovo desktops. I'd appreciate any input on the latter. Some
of the reviews of the HP machines say that the power supplies are
inadequate, and that they lack slots for expandability.
Thanks,
Donlad
