Hi gang and best wishes for 2011 My son's T41 has fallen victim to the bad mainboard syndrome. No sound & non-responsive USB ports. If he hadn't used the thing as an entertainment center, it may have lasted longer. I gave him a minitower for that stuff. So now that I've backed up all his data, I have to spring for a replacement.
He will run XP Pro, Office 03 or 07, Acrobat, and Mozilla for online coursework. New laptop prices are beyond my budget. In this area all of the second hand offerings are out of warranty. I have seen T60's in the $400 to $600 area, though at the higher mark, should I be shopping refurbs? Suggestions and tips are appreciated.
