Hi

I have a ThinkPad R31. It came with a battery but I think it is totally
shot, but before I buy a new one I wanted to make sure.

The battery light is green 99% of the time. The machine will not run off the
battery either, but occasionally the light will go orange for a little while
which I presume means it is charging for a bit.

Is there a way of checking the battery life/status/cycles. On my Mac there
is a tool called CoconutBattery which tells you how charged the battery is,
how many times its been charged, how much of the original capacity is the
battery holding and hold your battery is.

It is a great tool. Is there something like this for either XP or Ubuntu.
