Hi I have an R31 with its original CD ROM drive. I have an old combo drive kicking around that I use in various machines when I need to. It is a Panasonic UJDA760.
I put it in my R31 and burnt a CD using it in Brasero in Ubuntu. However, I cannot get it to boot a CD. I had to put my original CD drive back in to reinstall Ubuntu. Any reason why it wont work to boot. Also I noticed you have slam the drive shut for it to close properly.
